DEC delivered a new IP gas supply in Boston

Boston’s newly built power generation plant required an Intermediate-Pressure (IP) gas supply for its 7MW gas-peaking plant.

Boston’s newly built power generation plant required an Intermediate-Pressure (IP) gas supply for its 7MW gas-peaking plant.

The developer, MWAT, turned to DEC to provide the turnkey solution. As a result, the connection to the existing 63mm IP gas main and commissioning of a twin stream pressure reduction station (PRS) was achieved in a very short 3-month turnaround from acceptance to completion.

This turnaround was enabled by several factors emanating from the expertise of the DEC team. Namely, project management of the red tape, facilitated by a good working relationship fostered with the Highways Team during successful previous works in the Immediate area, excellent supply chain management to get the PRS through to the site promptly and the deployment of no dig directional drilling techniques to minimise environmental disruption.

Eric Greaves

of DEC commented.

Seeing how we could get on-site and schedule through to commission was satisfying.

The client is pleased that he can get the plant up and running and realise the earnings these sites need to become viable.

Speed was of the essence, but more importantly, was the design, compliance and technical delivery we provided as standard.”

Andrew Watkin

Director of MWAT and developer, had this to say about DEC.

“I unreservedly recommend DEC and am impressed with the speed at which they delivered our project in the East Midlands.

Intermediate-pressure gas connections are complex, and it’s clear that DEC has detailed knowledge of the approval processes and how to navigate them efficiently.

Working with Eric from DEC has been a great experience, including that they delivered the connection ahead of schedule and within budget!”
